Description

VCS292 | Wind, India is a renewables (electricity) Verified Carbon Standard project providing access to electricity and its benefits.

Project Description: VCS292 | Wind, India

The project is a 150 MW wind farm consisting of 100 x 1.5 MW wind turbines.

The project annually exports approximately 348 GWh of renewable electricity to the INDIAN grid.

The fossil fuel dominated INDIAN grid has an emissions intensity of 0.9368 tCO2/ MWh.

Sustainability Beyond Carbon

There is more to offsets than just carbon.

Each VCS carbon credit is a tonne of verified climate benefit, no matter the type of project.

This carbon offset project provides multiple sustainability co-benefits beyond just carbon and helps link your climate response to improved sustainability.

Demand for electricity in Gujarat is growing quickly with a significant supply/ demand gap existing.

The project adds extra supply, helping meet Gujarat’s electricity demand while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Doing so, it helps improve the local grid’s power characteristics, improving reliability and usability.

The project displaces fossil fuel-based electricity generation reducing air pollution like SO2, NOx and particulates.

It reduces India’s reliance on foreign and locally sourced fossil fuels and improves energy security.

The project’s direct and indirect benefits help alleviate poverty and improve the local economy.

Employment by the wind farm improves local incomes while an improved electricity supply allows greater economic activity.

The infrastructure in and around the project area has also been improved, including development of the road network.

The project leads to economic investment in a developing region.
